Best place to see sunrise asheville nc. 8 Beautiful Sunrise and Sunset Hikes near Asheville, NC

You can also bring your favorite mug if you'd like. This tour was awesome and we had the most vibrant sunrise viewing. This was our anniversary present to each other since we recently moved to NC from CT. Clayton even gave us insight into nearby towns and attractions. We will be doing another tour soon. My favorite part is that my husband and I got to go just the two of us, so it was very special.

The sunrise in the mountains is very beautiful, something that everyone should make it point to do. This short hike wanders through dense rhododendron and mountain laurel, which bloom throughout the spring and early summer. From a rocky overlook, you can see both the sunrise and sunset throughout most of the year — though access in the winter can be more difficult.

The Blue Ridge Parkway frequently closes throughout the winter, and this particular section is one of the first to be gated off due to ice and snow. Before you head out, check the road conditions here for the most up-to-date information.

An all seasons route to one of the best views in Western North Carolina. A popular hike providing spectacular views from the summit of Mount Pisgah. A short hike to a historic fire tower with breathtaking panoramic views. Then, you hop in the car and take a drive on one of the most famous rout es in the country. There are several viewpoints where you can park and marvel at the purple and orange c loud s rising above the trees.

Another great perk to catching the sunrise is that you ca n head back to our inn for a delicious breakfast afterward! This majestic peak is only 19 miles from downtown and features a beautiful 1. You should also make time to explore the magnificent gardens. When you wake up in the morning, make your way to the large southeast facing deck and watch the sunrise light up the forests. Asheville is lucky to have a flowing river pass right through the town.

Get up early, rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard and set off on the French Broad River. This man-made lake sits at the foot of Hickory Nut Gorge just below famed Chimney Rock and is surrounded by soaring granite cliffs and dense mountain forests. If you're not sure where to start, the Pisgah Region of the Blue Ridge Parkway offers access to many of these hikes, with countless other roadside vistas along the way.

Neither are too challenging, and their summits offer impeccable views of the sunrise year-round. Black Balsam Knob is a bucket list hike for anyone visiting western North Carolina, its summit offering sweeping degree views from nearly 6, feet A quick one-mile out-and-back is a popular option from Black Balsam Road, but this five-mile circuit offers endless views along the Art Loeb Trail then returns via an old logging path. The entire circuit is well worth the effort, should you have the time and energy for it.

Nearby, the hike to Green Knob and Mount Hardy explores remote stretches of the Middle Prong Wilderness, though it is incredibly difficult to navigate due to a lack of markings.

Wilderness areas in North Carolina generally are void of trail markings, a policy that helps to maintain their wild and remote feel. Should you be able to find Green Knob, though, it is an excellent opportunity for a quiet overnight trip deep in the wilderness.

So during those few years in the region, we got to discover for ourselves the best things to do in Asheville for couples. After all, we were a young couple in the early days of our relationship and in the midst of newlywed bliss , so we were always looking for date night ideas or sweet mushy coupley stuff. What we discovered has now been put together in this list for you.

With our guide, you can plan a fantastic trip. Ready to go? Let this be your go-to guide for what to do and where to stay. PS: Looking for more ideas for romantic Southern getaways? Check out these posts:. Asheville is a medium-sized city in Buncombe County, North Carolina. Have we mentioned that Asheville is photogenic? In fact, visiting Asheville in any season is doable and even recommended. We found summers to be fairly mild, with occasional hot days.

The mountains seem to keep the city much cooler than cities to the east, like Charlotte or Raleigh. Having lived a long time in New England , Asheville in the winter feels mild and beautiful. While it does get a bit of snow, we rarely experienced any inclement winter weather. Note that more mountainous locations, including cabins you might stay in, might be in more snow-heavy areas.

Keep this in mind when booking your accommodation. And spring and fall are gorgeous—many people would likely suggest fall in Asheville as being the best time of year to visit, and they might be right, especially considering the magical foliage that lines the Blue Ridge Parkway during this season. And of course, fall may be the most romantic season.

Asheville has its own airport, which makes traveling there very convenient. We suggest renting a car for your visit to Asheville, as the airport is a good 20 minutes away. And while there are public transport options in Asheville, having a rental car can make visiting places like the Biltmore Estate easier.

Just how many are there? Turns out, there are at least 30 breweries currently operating in Asheville. However, the number changes all the time as new brewers spring up throughout the region. Getting ready for a romantic trip to Asheville? You might find some of our other posts helpful:. The Biltmore is absolutely one of the top Asheville NC attractions for couples and a must-see for everyone!

This Vanderbilt mansion is known as the largest private home in America, but it more closely resembles a French chateau than an ordinary home. There are acres of land to explore at the Biltmore. Biltmore is more than just a big house. Not only can you tour the opulent interior of the home which is especially magical at Christmastime but you can also visit an onsite vineyard, stroll through the gardens, hike trails, or participate in a number of outdoor activities.

You can purchase your tickets directly from the Biltmore , or grab some discount Biltmore tickets via Tripster! But from a personal standpoint, we love it and definitely recommend visiting.

A unique way to tour the iconic property. This is a really lovely place and a quiet respite from the happy chaos of the city. If you hope to see flowers in their full bloom, it is recommended that you visit in mid-April or mid-August. If you find yourself in Asheville in the midst of summer June and early July , you can catch the glorious rhododendrons at their full height. These are best spotted among the verdant green mountains of the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Asheville and the surrounding area are home to hundreds of waterfalls! You should make the most of these on an Asheville romantic getaway. You can combine waterfall spotting with one of the many great hikes in the region. We especially recommend this one , which includes three waterfalls!

Not into waterfalls? Consider hiking the beautiful Black Balsam Knob. There are tall narrow falls, wide-sweeping falls, waterfalls you can drive behind, and waterfalls you can bathe in. Sliding Rock and Skinny Dip Falls are a couple of the most popular swimming spots, but there are even more on this list.

You may have to drive a bit farther to see some of the most incredible falls, but trust us, it will be worth it! Want to go on a guided hike with a knowledgeable local guide?

Oh, how we love coffee. When we lived in Asheville, we spent countless hours at the many delicious coffee shops in town. We suggest you take some time to do the same.

A balloon ride for two is such a sweet thing to do together! There are several balloon companies in the area, but this one is especially highly rated on TripAdvisor.

There are a lot of gorgeous places to stay in Asheville. This is a spectacular hotel that commands a wonderful view over the city, not to mention its award-winning spa! The treatments are reportedly awesome, and there is even a couples session that includes dual exfoliation, a warm mineral and aloe body masque, plus a full-body relaxation massage with essential oils. This unique spot is called the Battery Park Book Exchange.

With old and new volumes from floor to ceiling, plus a bar with tasty bubbly, you can spend a couple of hours locked in intense conversation with your partner.

Speaking of booze…Asheville is well known for its abundance of breweries! The city itself has 26 breweries while the larger region contains a hefty 60! When seeking out A sheville attractions for couples, if beer is on your mind, make it a point to tour the breweries. There are guided tours, including bus and walking tours.

For a small group, this walking tour will simplify things, bringing you to a few of the local favorite breweries. The tour includes samples and a souvenir pint glass. Love to bike? This electric bicycle brewery crawl will guide you to all the best spots and let you explore Asheville by bike at the same time.

So perfect for summertime in Asheville! Considering how walkable downtown Asheville is, you can easily create your own DIY excursion. Our friend Paige has a nice guide to Asheville breweries to help you make the right choices! We especially like these options:. We believe adventure should be a big part of your love story, too! And one of the most romantic things to do in Asheville, NC for couples just might be an outdoor adventure.

Consider rafting, tubing, zip-lining, mountain biking, stand up paddleboarding, or fly fishing. The French Broad River passes right through town, providing lots of opportunities for fun.

There are plenty of options for guided outdoor excursions. These spots are worth considering. The Parkway stretches for hundreds of miles and offers insane views, a bunch of great hikes, and a chance for a really fun drive. A huge number of people traverse the Blue Ridge Parkway each year…apparently more people drive the parkway than visit the Grand Canyon! Check out these must-see stops.

Also, note that portions of the parkway are closed in the winter. Some of the best sunsets in the city can be found at one of the many rooftop bars and restaurants.

Make reservations to beat the crowds and bring your camera to Instagram that view! A hip enclave filled with galleries, shops, and some of the yummiest and cheapest tacos around, the River Arts District is definitely worth a visit. You can stroll through the galleries and discover some unusual and beautiful pieces.

The surrounding region has literally hundreds of cabins you could cozy up in. These are among the most romantic places we can imagine! Perfect for an Asheville NC honeymoon. For best results, we recommend a cabin with a big open fireplace, an outdoor jacuzzi so you can stargaze , and incomparable views.

One of the most important parts of a romantic trip is your accommodation. You want something comfortable, cozy as can be, and private. Fortunately, there are many romantic hotels in Asheville, as well as cabins, AirBnbs, and other unique accommodations. Here are a few of the choicest picks:. This place is gorgeous. From its position in the mountains, you can see all the way into downtown Asheville from above.

As a bonus, the inn has an award-winning spa onsite.
